So since Garrick is now on a regular 8-hour workday we decided to adopt another dog. We went to the Humane Society (they didn't have much) and then to Animal Control where we got Kelsey - success!
Anyways, here's her intake picture from 2 weeks ago - you can't tell her cuteness from it :) She was a stray and judging from her still-sharp teeth she's about 6 months?
She is clearly a German Shepherd mix, so there is a definite potential for humongocity but her paws aren't terribly big nor her head, so hopefully she'll just be medium like Kelsey. Also her hair is slightly longer and much softer than a german. She's about 20 lbs and kept trying to get up into my lap! And unlike Kelsey she is excellent at fetch with both the tennis ball and frisbee!
No name yet... we're working on that - we have until we pick her up from getting spayed on Thursday <3

Irish Fest 2008
We saw the sheepherding dogs :)
Stopped to watch a few concerts
They were good
This group was awesome - they even played the song from the end of Napoleon Dynamite!
I couldn't get this leprechaun to turn around! But he was still pretty great

School and pets
School starts Monday - here's my schedule in case you're curious ^_^
Here are Kelsey and Xeno (that black blob to the right side of the picture is him). This is about as close as they ever get. Notice that they're both sleeping and that Xeno's head is under the curtain so he probably has no idea.

RANDOM
I forgot to post this last time! When we were at Ikasucon I finally got the Yuki figurine I've been trying forever to get. They come in sealed boxes, so it took me three conventions, two Mikurus, one Kaname and one Kontana to get her, lol ^_^
(You may or may not see me in similar costume in the near future)
Garrick got me hooked on guitar hero - we wanted to play together so we bought a used one. I decorated with my newly acquired Naruto stickers.
Kelsey sleeps with her tongue out a lot but we have a hard time catching her for a picture. I finally got her, but the sock was in the way. You can still get the idea though >_<

Ikasucon 2008
Yes we are big nerds ^_^
(Pictures of other people first then us at the bottom.)
There was a big accident in the middle of a construction zone so it felt like we would never get there!!
But we did!
Howl and Sophie, from one of my all time favorite movies. You can see the line we waited in for 2 hours in the background.
Mei, Zuko and Sokka from Avatar
Raito and L from Death Note >.<
Vash from Trigun - he loves donuts!
We wore recycled costumes for Friday
Saturday was time for our new costumes.
Here we are with the whole huge Naruto group photoshoot - where are we?
Garrick's profile
Allen took this one when he and Janelle came by - thanks Allen!
We made both of our vests and altered the rest from Goodwill items ^_^
More from the photoshoot
Reference pics in case you care who the heck we were, lol

Tennessee Vacation Day 3 and 4
Day 3:
We decided to go on a hike to see a waterfall
Coffee first was definitely necessary
I'd never seen poison oak before... I did not touch
haha, "anger"
We made it!
There wasn't a whole lot of "nature" to be had. Garrick wanted to see a bear but I was perfectly happy with just the butterflies in the parking lot
That evening, we went to Davey Crockett (?) minigolf

Day 4
After going on such a nice hike the day before, we decided to try another. This one was much more rustic (no paved walkways) and we didn't quite make it to the waterfall this time.
But a little farther down was Ogles Cabin - the first homestead to be built in Gatlinburg. It was built in 1802 and is still in very good condition. There was also a stream behind the barn.
Yes, the doors really are that short - this was the front door.
'
We thought we'd check out hillbilly minigolf that night.
The whole thing is built into the side of the mountain and you have to take a little tram to get to the course.
Unfortunately we didn't check the forecast first and we ended up getting rained out after the 3rd hole. :( But there was a beautiful mountain rainbow afterwards!
We headed back home the next morning - it was a really great vacation!!
Next time... Ikasucon '08
